The Nightly Ritual: Meditating Your Way to Restful Sleep
Meditation is the practice of going within to pay undistractable attention to all that occurs moment-by-moment, which is best practiced in the morning and at night. However, little emphasis is on the benefits of practicing first thing in the morning and before you drift off to sleep at night. This post will explore the benefits of practicing morning and night.
The subconscious mind, a subjective mind, performs at its highest capacity when you (the conscious mind) are in a drowsy, sleepy state. During the day (aka waking hours), your conscious thinking mind is typically in the habit of repeating the same series of thoughts repeatedly, making it much more challenging to accept new thought patterns. At the same time, being relaxed and drowsy makes it more susceptible to being impossible to accept new thoughts through affirmations. Listening to calm, soothing frequencies (meditation music) makes one more susceptible to accepting what impresses the subconscious mind.
Unlike the conscious thinking mind, which can analyze, critique, and filter information before it accepts it as true, the subconscious can only receive and accept all that is impressed. It can only receive good, bad, or indifferent, as it lacks the faculty of discernment. Much like the soil that receives and cultivates the seeds implanted, it (the subconscious mind) nurtures and cultivates all seeds regardless of the type. Be it a seed of the rose, an apple, a pear, or a poisonous nightshade, it receives it all the same. This is often why listening to the news immediately before bed can implant suggestions of fear, doubt, and worry to the point where you feel anxious and fearful without a conscious reason.
Be mindful and intentional with what you allow to enter your subconscious mind before you drift off to sleep at night. Meditate and focus on affirmations that affirm what you desire to invite into your experience before you drift off to sleep (i.e., health, happiness, love, success, prosperity, and money). You can plant seeds that reflect your highest intent, and it will manifest in divine timing.
