Mindfulness: Your Key to Getting Out of Your Way
Much has been said about how we each need to get out of our way, leaving much to the imagination regarding how one is to do. This piece will take a deep dive to explore what it means.
I recently came across this passage that struck a chord."The longer you entertain what's not good for you, the longer you delay what is." Far too many of us settle and remain in jobs, relationships, friendships, situations, and circumstances that we have long outgrown out of fear that letting go of the familiar will lead to a far worse fate. With the unknown naturally comes a degree of fear. Likewise, fearlessness is a complete farce, as fear will surely arise anytime you begin to entertain the thought of doing something new.
Do you ever find yourself so attached to things going as planned that any deviation leaves you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Naturally, everyone wants to have some semblance of a plan for their future. Plans are but our best guess for how we’d like things to unfold. However, we have little to no control over anyone, or anything, outside of ourselves. Outside of how we feel, we have no foresight into whether our planned actions align with our best interests.
Planning things to the most minute detail often leaves us attached to a preferred outcome. Consequently, the moment it appears that things are not going to work out as planned, we tend to freak out. Next thing you know, all low vibrational thoughts begin to arise, one after another until you become consumed with fear, doubt, and worry. Being that like attracts like, the more energy you expend on what’s not working, the more focused you become on what’s not working.
Whenever you experience frustration when things don't go according to plan, take a few deep breaths, and observe the source of your frustration. Shift your awareness to something you have to be grateful for and embrace the universal truth that beyond the appearance of what seems not to be working, remember, "everything is working together for my good."
Hence the key to conquering fear lies in acknowledging and accepting its presence and releasing your energy and attention away from what you know is not good for you (what no longer serves). In other words, you need to let that sh** go. Four poignant words that are far easier said than done. Theoretically, a comfort zone should provide a sense of reliability and safety in knowing what is likely to happen next. Only the more you hold firm to past events and experiences, the less available you are to tap into the unlimited good that awaits within the escape of the unknown
Contrary to popular belief, we live in a friendly universe perpetually working in our favor. The key to seizing opportunities and opening yourself up to more good than you could imagine lies within having an open availability to release what no longer serves (aka let that sh** go) to allow the manifestation of your intention.
Admit-tingly, residing in the unknown can be an unpredictable and frightening place. However, the good news is that we are each co-creators with universal intelligence with the innate power to curate a life of our choosing. In doing so, you have the power of choice to continue to do what you've always done and settle for less than you desire, or you can consciously elect to get comfortable with being uncomfortable by accepting the fear and doing it anyway, Open yourself to step into the unknown by doing the things that scare the sh** out of you. Step into your power and remember who you are, a divine emanation of the Most High.
So often, we disproportionately direct our thoughts to the object of our fears rather than the things we want. From an early age, we are conditioned to remain focused on what we can see, feel, touch, and experience with our senses that the mere thought of using your imagination to view things as you'd desire them to be, feels aspirational.
Thoughts are things, as the focus and action of our thoughts create our reality. Hence the more you focus on what isn't working, the more you vibrationally attract more situations and circumstances that reaffirm your belief whereas, if you find the positive aspects within your current state, with an open expectancy that even though you may not have a clear view of the path forward (aka the how), you remain confident and steadfast to the belief that your intentions will materialize into form.
Should you lose sight of your intention and fail to prey to fear, doubt, and worry, take time to realign yourself with your desired intent. Practice grace, releasing any judgment, redirect your energy and attention to what you want, and you will manifest your desires. Likewise, the more deliberate you are with your thoughts, the more agency you have to create the life you want.
Practice
Gently pause, breathe, disconnect from all active thinking, and notice where you focus your attention (aka energy). Should you observe any fear, take a few deep breaths, release any judgment, self-critique, or attachments to what feels safe, and allow yourself to tap into your childlike imagination to feel the wish fulfilled (aka it is already here now)? Remember, unlimited opportunities lie on the other side of fear.
If you observe thoughts that are misaligned with your highest and best good, accept their presence without attempting to force or change it. Affirm "everything is working together for my good," feel and believe that although you may not be able to stop the flow of thoughts that affirm otherwise, you can take your mind back by redirecting your attention to your desired intent.
