If you, by chance, have found yourself enamored at the sheer possibility of manifesting your intentions, only to be met with an inner critic that is conjuring up every possible excuse as to why it won’t work, you are not alone.
Thankfully, there are supportive practices that can help you to fire your inner critic and regain control of your attention. This post will outline 3 Ways to Take Back Your Mind.
The Habit of Falling Prey to the Inner Critic
Many are more than willing to create a reality of their choosing. Not just any average, mundane, run-of-the-mill reality, but one that cultivates a fertile ground to harvest their most coveted desires. Despite your best intentions, the prevailing inner critic tends to arise, clouding your vision and causing you to question everything by making you see far more potentialities for failure than possibilities to manifest your intentions.
What typically starts as a whisper (inner critic) prompts you to question how things will pan out, sparking fear, doubt, and worry about the unknown. The next thing you know, what started as minimal doubt increasingly blossoms into full-on fear of the unknown. In other words, the more questions that arise, the more the ego begins to chart how it will happen.
Being that like attracts like, fear-based thoughts begin to run the gamut as your inner critic starts to rule the roost pulling you into a downward spiral by perpetually recycling low vibrational thoughts until it permeates the core of your being. In other words, our inner comfort (a comfort zone) relies on repeatedly recycling the same routine habit patterns.
If you remain within the limited confines of your comfort zone, the ego remains safe and secure. Throw in lofty new ideals, and the ego goes into a tailspin, concocting every possible excuse and scenario imaginable to deter you from venturing into anything that threatens to annihilate all that it (the ego) holds so dear.
In other words, the moment we dare to dream, making a consistent, concerted effort to step into the unknown, it triggers the ego to go into a preverbal fight or flight response, where it essentially does all it can to leverage your fears to force you to course correct and revert to your old routine.
Likewise, it tends to make you feel as if you are ill-equipped, unworthy, or insufficient, as well as every other adjective liable to guilt you into feeling that you don’t have what it takes to ascend to higher heights.
Beyond Thoughts
Beyond random thoughts that dwell solely within your mind’s eye, thoughts are energy units that permeate the core of your being. Likewise, everything is energy, and whether conscious or not, every thought we think and entertain generates an energetic vibration that magnetically attracts everything agreeable to its nature. Hence the adage “birds of a feather flock together” as like attracts like.
Being that like attracts like, every thought that focuses on what you don’t want continuously elicits a low vibrational frequency that essentially keeps the cycle going. Hold thoughts of fear, lack, limitation, and unworthiness, and you reflect more and more of the same.
If one thinks thoughts that solely arise from fear, it affirms the exact opposite of your intention, leading one to believe that their intentions aren’t meant to come to fruition. In other words, one falls prey to the misperception that your desires aren’t in the cards (aka, your desires aren’t in the cards).
The good news is that no matter how long you subject yourself to old habits of thought, we each possess the inner power to change at will and begin again, chartering a new course to invite in more of what you want (aka desired intentions). Likewise, we don’t think thoughts; we obtain them from the universal field.
Notably, the substance of all we expose ourselves to is subject to be reflected within the content of our thoughts. Interestingly, thoughts are units of energy that permeate every plane of our existence, as energy can never be destroyed, only transmuted into different forms. If one experiences fear-based thoughts that emit a low vibrational frequency, it courses through the depths of the physical body, creating a sense of emotional pain and discomfort.
When holding on to the things that cause discomfort, one creates suffering. In essence, what we resist persists. The more one resists what is calling them to shift, the more suffering and discomfort one will endure. In the words of Reverend Michael B. Beckwith, pain pushes you until a vision pulls you. In other words, the longer one subjects themselves to the same old paradigm, the more discomfort one endures until a vision pulls them beyond self-imposed limitations.
The Truth of Your Being
We are all energetic beings with an innate creative facility to use the power of thought to co-create with universal intelligence. Since all thinking is creative, every thought is a unit of energy that can shift our energetic frequency.
Like most things, all thoughts aren’t created equal, as they span the spectrum, from low to high vibrations with disempowering thoughts that originate from fear, doubt, and worry, emitting some of the lowest frequencies, to those of joy and happiness, which tops the scales with some of the highest vibrations.
Think that you are continuously surrounded by unlimited opportunities for more health, love, joy, financial wealth, and abundance, and you will indeed be met with more of the same. Whereas, if you singularly focus on the absolute worst that could happen, you are sure to manifest the substance of your fears.
The more low vibrational thoughts you think and fall prey to the whims of the inner critic, the more lack, limitations, and loss you experience until you take back your mind.
3 Ways to Fire Your Inner Critic and Take Back Your Mind
1. There’s No Magical Formula
Despite anything that you may have been led to believe, changing long-standing old habits doesn’t happen overnight. Like most things, taking back your mind takes time, patience, and consistency.
You are a unique emanation of the Divine, meaning no one else is quite like you. From the moment you entered this incarnation, you were already equipped with everything you could ever wish, hope for, or desire as it is within.
Likewise, all things are possible, as everything happens to you as you believe. Root yourself in the unwavering belief that you can manifest your intention, drowning out all fear, doubt, and worry, and you will actualize your desires.
2. Release the Burden of External Validation
We often source external counsel to affirm and validate our worthiness. Know that you are more than enough, always have been, and always will be. So, you don't need any degree, certification, or other external validation to confirm your worthiness. Therefore, anything that the inner critic (the ego) leads you to believe you are anything less than a unique individualized expression of the Divine is not Real.
3. Release the Need to Know How You Will Manifest Your Intentions
As spiritual beings having a human incarnation, we can think independently of circumstances. However, in our humanness, we tend to get caught up in the ways and means by which it will happen. Notably, we operate and function based on past experiences and circumstances.
Invariably, if we haven’t indirectly or directly experienced something, it becomes hard to believe and accept it as true. In other words, one can only use their lived experience to reference what is possible. When it comes to manifesting desires when you have no point of reference as to whether it is possible, the ego’s only offense is to deem it impossible.
The universal law of attraction operates from a higher plane, which is not of this world. Likewise, one cannot use human approaches (aka past experiences) to frame whether something is possible. Our only recourse is to release all resistance to willfully control how things unfold and root ourselves within the belief and acceptance that everything works together for your good.
The Divine’s ways are far beyond the auspices of human conception. Release resistance and have an open willingness and receptivity to receive more good than you could imagine, and you will fire the inner critic and manifest your intentions.
