How Mindfulness Can You Help Navigate Change
You are energy manifested in human form, ever-evolving and unfolding from one state of being to the next. Everything you can observe and experience through your senses is energy. Energy is constantly in motion, from joy, happiness, and sadness to everything else. We have the gift of living and experiencing each moment as it is. Admittedly, change is anything but a comforting process, as it has the potential to upend our lives in ways we may feel unwilling to let go. So what do we do? We do what we do best, holding on as tight as possible to what is, avoiding change at all costs, and often holding on to jobs, friendships, relationships, and partnerships longer than we should to avoid the unknown.
What you resist persists. The more time, energy, and attention you spend avoiding the unknown (aka change), the more things stay the same. Where your attention goes, your energy flows. The universe doesn’t give you what you want; it gives you what you are. Whether you are intently focused on your passion or what you wouldn’t want to happen in a million years, the energy of your attention magnetically attracts it to you. The universe doesn’t give you what you want; it gives you what you are in frequency.
As spiritual beings having a human experience, we have personal preferences for preferred outcomes. However, resisting and fighting using every other form of resistance to force things to work in your favor only results in suffering. Change is the only constant, as life only exists in the present moment, not in memories of past victories, pain, or anticipation of what will happen in the future. We all experience every emotion and sensation in the present. So even if you and your mind are reverting to the past or launching into the future, the energy and feelings that arise are all experienced in the present.
