Forgiving the Past: A Mindful Approach to Healing and Letting Go
Forgiveness is a practice primarily reserved and emphasized as something we should prioritize for others. However, forgiveness is an inside job that begins with the self. We are multidimensional beings who live and experience the world through our senses as we live, move, and have our being in both an inner and external world. Notably, we disproportionately spend excessive time in our heads, in thought, as we take our thoughts, feelings, and emotions everywhere we go.
In other words, we can not consciously stop the flow of thoughts. Thoughts tend to feel like they have a mind of their own, often flowing from one similar thought to another, leaving you enthusiastic or overwhelmed. Being that like attracts like, one thought of blame, shame, and self-critique can lead to an avalanche of hurt and pain, making it that much harder to forgive and heal.
