Embracing Fear: Harnessing Mindfulness to Overcome Challenges
I recently came across this passage that struck a chord."The longer you entertain what's not good for you, the longer you delay what is." Far too many of us settle and remain in jobs, relationships, friendships, situations, and circumstances that we have long outgrown out of fear that letting go of the familiar will lead to a far worse fate. With the unknown naturally comes a degree of fear. Likewise, fearlessness is a complete farce, as fear will surely arise anytime you begin to entertain the thought of doing something new.
Hence the key to conquering fear lies in acknowledging and accepting its presence and releasing your energy and attention away from what you know is not good for you (what no longer serves). In other words, you need to let that sh** go. Four poignant words that are far easier said than done. Theoretically, a comfort zone should provide a sense of reliability and safety in knowing what is likely to happen next. Only the more you hold firm to past events and experiences, the less available you are to tap into the unlimited good that awaits within the escape of the unknown
Contrary to popular belief, we live in a friendly universe perpetually working in our favor. The key to seizing opportunities and opening yourself up to more good than you could imagine lies within having an open availability to release what no longer serves (aka let that sh** go) to allow the manifestation of your intention.
Admit-tingly, residing in the unknown can be an unpredictable and frightening place. However, the good news is that we are each co-creators with universal intelligence with the innate power to curate a life of our choosing. In doing so, you have the power of choice to continue to do what you've always done and settle for less than you deserve, or you can consciously elect to get comfortable with being uncomfortable by accepting the fear and doing it anyway, Open yourself to step into the unknown by doing the things that scare the sh** out of you. Step into your power and remember who you are, a divine emanation of the Most High.
Practice
Gently pause, breathe, disconnect from all active thinking, and notice where you focus your attention (aka energy). Should you observe any fear, take a few deep breaths, release any judgment, self-critique, or attachments to what feels safe, and allow yourself to tap into your childlike imagination to feel the wish fulfilled (aka it is already here now)? Remember, unlimited opportunities lie on the other side of fear.
If you observe thoughts misaligned with your highest and best good, accept their presence without attempting to force or change it. Affirm "everything is working together for my good," feel and believe that although you may not be able to stop the flow of thoughts that affirm otherwise, you can take your mind back by redirecting your attention to your desired intent.
